Second Tech to Market office to open in Microlab in Strijp-S

Tech to Market is growing. It’s why we’ll shortly be opening up a second office in Eindhoven’s other innovative hotspot: Strijp-S.

This means that next to being in the very heart of technological developments on the High Tech Campus, we’ll also now be part of the vibrant web of collaborative creativity that is Microlab in Strijp-S.

Back to where it all started
Fact is, that Microlab is located in the exact same building where it all started over 14 years ago. It’s where Niels and Patricia took their first steps as tech marketeers. It’s where they learnt that true innovations are the result of much hard work and dedication. It’s where they dealt with a few disappointments and scored their first major successes. Only, at the time, they worked for Philips Electronics.

Or rather, battled for Philips. Fighting a full-blown, worldwide Format War over which technology would become the international industry standard for Optical Data storage: the competitor’s HD-DVD or Philips’ Blu-ray Disc?

Niels working for Philips IP & Standards and Patricia working for Philips Optical Storage, traveled the world over. Linking pins between tech and commerce, getting a foothold in the film industry, creating retail buy-in, understanding consumer requirements and giving feedback to the developers. Basically, they worked their butts off to market this new, high-value technology. The rest of the Blu-ray Disc story, as they say, is history.
